Jim Beers, Brad Leach, and I drove up to Indianapolis with Doug Burton from Main Street Velo. We spent the night at Jim's sister's house, then headed over to the park for our races on Sunday.

Brad, Doug, and I lined up for the 4/5's. Unusually, this was a 60 minute race. The course ran through a city park on closed roads, and featured a number of turns, including one very technical 150 degree bend. After pre-riding the course, we knew this turn would be decisive, as it was the second to last turn and around 400 meters to the finish.
The race progressed at a good pace and things were looking good on the final lap. I lost too much speed entering the critical corner, and, trying to accelerate through the corner, I clipped my pedal. This cost me enough places that I had to burn to get back on and I swung around the final corner further back then I wanted to be. Gave it my all, but has lost too many places. Ended up 7th.

All four of us lined up for the 3-5's Masters 35+. This was also a 60 minute race. I spent the first half of the race tying to keep Jim out of the wind. In the end, I ran out of gas. A break made it clear about 25 minutes to go, with one team blocking like crazy. Was in third wheel in the penultimate corner, but the legs said "No". Hit the finishing straight and sat up, rolled in 13th.

These were my first races with the Zipp's, and only the second and third time I had ridden them. I found myself on my brakes more then usual, especially in the 4/5s, as the wheels seem to accelerate faster and with less effort then my Ksyriums.
